municipal law
The increasingly complex nature of legal issues confronting today's municipalities mandate that they retain counsel with expertise in such matters.
Our attorneys have extensive experience in all areas of municipal law and continue to zealously defend constitutional and civil rights claims brought pursuant to Section 1983, including those alleging violations of the First Amendment (based upon free speech and religion), the Fourth Amendment (based upon claims of false arrest and excessive force) and the Fourteenth Amendment (due process and equal protection claims). Our many successes on behalf of our municipal clients include not only numerous defense verdicts but also a high success rate in disposing of cases on motions for dismissal and summary judgment, often establishing favorable precedent for our clients.
Our representation of our municipal clients also includes matters pertaining to employment, public employee benefits, public health, public safety, competitive procurement/public purchasing, contract, tax assessment and collection, zoning and land use, the Freedom of Information Act and tort liability.
We have reviewed and drafted municipal ordinances and regulations, provided counsel on the effective enforcement of legislation and defended the implementation of this legislation in state and federal courts and before administrative agencies.
